Talk you out of a diesel? why? Not all of these Europeans can't be wrong.

To give you an idea, I just sign off on a 2010 3.0d. It is a BMW executive driven car. It's about 5 months old but I will be the first registered owner. I will get full warranty and the 4 years/80k maint. program. BMW discounted this suv with about 13% ($ 12.000) of sticker. It is also eligible for the discounted fin rate of 2.9% given on leftover new 2010's.
The same dealer did have a few 2010's but they where without the cool stuff. Discount was about $6000,00.

Pricing out a new one got me a discount of about $4000 on a comparable loaded 2011 but no further incentives and 4.9% fin. I did talked to a few dealers and this was the absolute best I could get. Conclusion; getting a 2010, never registered, compared with the same 2011 saved me about $ 13k.

Sure it is.

AKA "beat on by the family that owns the BMW Dealership." Since the guy is "president" they can say "BMW Executive".

Still, sounds like a great deal....

yes, but....

I don't trust car salesmen and to be honest that's the same reaction I had talking to the bmw "stealer" sales guy. But the funniest thing happened.

A few days earlier at a dealer about 100k from here there was the exact copy of the X5 diesel I just bought. Same color, options, almost same amount of km, same date of in service and a VIN number only 3 digits off the other one. Got the quote here in front of me. This sales person had the same story as the one from the dealer as I bought it. They even gave me the name of the guy who drove it .

So 2 options, I am either the stupidest car buyer in Canada , or for this one time they are actually not far off the truth.....

Whatever it is, I don't care! I will be driving this amazing machine!!

What dealer are you getting it from, Vancouver? One reason to deal with Kelowna is that you sometimes get better service loaner treatment when dealing with the selling dealer.

It all went a bit strange. I am looking for a diesel for a while now. Could not find any used beemers so I did go to Kelowna to look at a used ML cdi. Did not like it and to kill some time I stopped by the BMW guys.

They had this executive driven one as mentioned and drove it. All other plans, Audi Q7, ML 350 where out the window. Amazing. Started negotiating and we got stuck on the july 1 delivery. Long story short, they sold it on me. My bet. you snooze, you loose.

Starting looking at other options and found exactly the same deal at a Vancouver BMW dealer. Called a few times with the Kelowna guys about a new one but with limited supply and no incentives we could not make it work. They really tried as much as they could and felt kinda bad about it but the difference was just to big for me.

Will service it in Kelowna and we will see. They seem like good guys.

I have family in Kelowna, and they had a 325i serviced there, after purchasing it in Vancouver. Some teething issues as they got the new dealership opened, but I did hear they were reasonable. Good luck!

Well I closed the deal for $50,550. It has everything except for Navigation and Adaptive Drive (?) with 2,870 miles on her. My wife said the computer showed 20 mpg on city driving on her way to work this morning. The X5d replaced my wifes 328i and he got about the same mpg on the same route so I'm very impressed with the diesel so far. I can't wait to open it up on the highway this weekend.

There will always be someone out there saying that there are better deals but I'm happy.

The deal included a clear bra for the front, mirrors, and door handles and a new set of all weather mats for this winter. The factory tint in the rear isn't very dark so I'm getting the windows tinted all the way around at either 15% or 20%. Are there any other "must haves" that I should look into? I don't really plan into doing any heavy modding other than cosmetic things.
