To go with the LEDs without the OBD giving a bulb out warning then resistors, as discussed above need to be wired in. This is "modification" and almost a modification to the wiring harness itself. BMW routinley denies warranty coverage on "modified" parts. If you had any malfunction of the headlight or the wiring harness melted my money would be on BMW voiding the warranty for that specific problem. It's not like they would void a warranty on the suspension etc for changing the bulbs.
This is just my opinion.

If some other part of the headlight housing malfunctioned, BMW would have to prove the LED caused this, not just arbitrarily say.

I am just sharing what I have read. Take from it what you will. Has this stopped me modding, no. I'm just aware of the risks.

Why do you think there was a recall on the Lux? Resistors produce heat, lots of it. Get your facts straight. As for this thread, I've had about enough so bark all you want.

Yup have to agree with you there. I bought my wife a 2006 X5 3.0i after our 2002 Tahoe caught on fire while she was taking my 12 year old son to school. (No mods). So lets say that I will not take any chance with the family car just to look good. Even though I am an Electrical Engineer I leave the mods now only to my car Its not worth the risk.
