Personally, I can't recommend buying a car from Northern VA. The road conditions are atrocious (worse than downtown Richmond, believe it or not!), and there's absurd amounts of salt/sand during the winters.

That's absurd, Northern Virginia has the best road in America, if not the Best everywhere. The richest counties in America are all based in Northern Vriginia. We pay a lot of taxes and our roads are like glass. You can cruise up to 110MPH with no hand and the car will not move a single inch to any direction.

After last winter I'd say this guy probably sat at home, if he couldn't notice all the holes, cracks and debris EVERYWHERE. To VDOT creadit, they were fixed pretty fast (but this summer heat did quite a damage again, not to mention all the construction).

Or perhaps your sarcasm meter is broken... The GW Parkway alone nearly did in my suspension.

The G/W Parkway is wheel or suspension manufacturer's dream. It's aweful. It single handedly took the life of two sets of wheels off of my old E46.

Since I'm driving back to Vegas in December, I have the 18 inch wheels and all season M+S tires on the X5, which are faring much better than the 19s would on that "road". Lovely drive if the pavement were better...
