E53's and E70's are a dime a dozen here in my town. My mom has gotten some comments on our old diesel X5 up in north NJ, around Sussex County where there are less BMW's. With our Tasman Green X6, we have gotten a few more comments on it being a nice car. Our E53 is too stock looking to get comments, even with its mud flaps, red tinted tails, and blackout grills.

I don't want attention, and haven't gotten any - silver, stock wheels, keep it a bit dirty, perfect. We like being anonymous.

I think you have to do fancy wheels and M body to get noticed.

Just leaving the grocery store tonight, I started it up in the parking lot and a Grand Cherokee owner did a double, triple, then quadruple take as I drove away, then was looking at it driving down the street when he caught up to me. Must like em
No it was probably more like that Toyota Sienna commercial--you left your diaper bag on your roof.

A lady in a CRV took a long look at mine as she turned the corner in front of me.

A girlfriend of mine was sitting in the passenger seat and made the comment that a lot of people were looking at the car as we drove through town. From what I've noticed, the looks now come from women in their late 20's - 40's, soccer moms that are tired of their minivans, and business men. Conversely, the M3 got looks everywhere and compliments that ranged from 10 year olds to other sports car enthusiasts. To be honest I appreciate the subtle elegance of the X5 and want to keep it fairly stock. Definitely not a fan of the "baller" mods.

My X5 is stock, if at all I would get a look, chances are that it's from a green treehugger that is commenting my diesel-guzzling SUV that will forever destroy our planet
I'm still waiting for the first green guy to key my car, I know it will happen, just don't know when

I usually see people on the highway as I pass point and see their mouths moving (good or bad) they are still talking I've seen the double take as well. I've made mine a bit more different cause like most have said there a dime a dozen. The best question I get... What size are those rear tires?

As for me some guys can even come to the driver side to complement before going into 'how fast these machines go... 0 - 100km/h... blah blah blah!" I dont think its an African thing, even if there quite alot of X5s, X6s all over in my City people still RESPECT any BMW and loved by anything from sweet Sixteens to bored house wives who gets a hot lay from 'the guy who drives the only black X5 in town!"

One day I was taking a glass of Jack Daniels at some Cafe`, here comes some juicy thing, "hey is it you I always see in that Black X5 parked outside...?" with a wicked grin on my face I said.."Yap!" I offered her a bar stool... she went on talking about how she thinks X5s are sexy (It was news to me! Idont see sexy in X5s!) ... we went on and on glass after another... maybe I was drunk but I remember suggesting to her why couldnt she take a ride in it then... from there... well... huh...

Not a "race stirrer" but i think I get looks moreso because of the fact that I'm a young black guy driving one. I love the double take. I have no idea what the thoughts or comments are from other folks, but I love the look. And this is when I'm Knoxville...which the economic hardships seemed to skip by.

When I go to visit my family in Charlotte...it stands out like a terd in a punchbowl. Can't wait for my mods...then I'll float higher. I love it.
