Hi,
I too have the same problem. Drains clogged in in front side. Can anyone attach some pics or description how to clean or replace these drains.

Thanks in advance.

I have not looked at my X5's pano roof drain holes but all the BMWs I have worked with have been the same. One hole at each corner of the sunroof. See picture:

The sunroof has a gutter around the edge. The seal is only there to slow down not stop water from entering into the sunroof area. The gutter and drains do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to keeping the cabin dry.

You can test your drains by slowly pouring water into the gutter. If the water leaves the gutter slowly, or worse just sits in the gutter, your drains are plugged up.

You can clean your drains with compressed air. The other approche is as Xtony said: feed trimmer line down the hole until the water drains away. Repeat on all 4 corners.

If you live in Oregon like I do you might want to do this as preventative maintenance.

^ thanks, keep forgetting to check it, and can never find this thread (because drain wasn't spelled as 1 word).

No drain holes...

Just looked at my '08 E70 and I can't find any drain holes as per the picture.

Anyone have a pics of the drains on the E70?

Thanks,
John

Would this be something that becomes evident when you wash the vehicle as well?

I just double checked as well and although in the front, the wind defuser mechanism obstructs your view the drain, it is there and can be serviced as I described. I will take and post a pic of the E70 panoramic roof soon.

Ok, found the holes...
How far are you inserting the line to clean out the holes?
I can't seem to get it to feed for more than a couple of inches.

Here is a Link to an Audi Discussion: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext61.shtml
You can notice that at the end of the write up they are using a speedometer cable to pass through the pipe.
I also remember people using some sort of bleach or cleaner to run into the drain pipes ever so often.
Good Luck.
