Dinan's warranty is designed and marketed as a supplemental warranty that picks up where the BMW warranty stops. They cover consequential damage (beyond the Dinan components) for failures attributed to the Dinan components. Still, with two separate warranty providers (BMW and Dinan) it would be advisable IMO to have your servicing dealer involved in the Dinan sale, as they can then act as your representative to both BMW and Dinan for any warranty claims.

![]() With this mod, I can already envision BMW having a field day denying warranty coverage on a myriad of parts, since so many could fail and be blamed on "increased power and stress to components".

Dinan BMW - Warranty Dinan is conservative in their hp increases. They sell and service through BMW dealers. They cover consequential damage. For all of these reasons, they are much more expensive ($/hp) than other chip tuners who will sell you the same hp increase for several hundred dollars. There is always a risk of falling between the cracks of the Dinan warranty and any potential BMW warranty refusal. That is why I suggested working with one dealer, preferably one you have a relationshipo with, who can help to bridge those potential gaps. Or you could wait and buy the performance software kit directly from BMW.

The ONLY advantage Dinan has over any other vendor is their warranty... It is also the reason Dinan's power increases tend to be somewhat conservative when compared to what other vendors might eek out of a motor. I suspect Dinan has access to engineering design spec limits, which allow them to better understand where then can expand the envelope. I am not a dinan fan, BTW. Most of their stuff is grossly over-priced for a name and bragging rights, but their power mod warranty is not to be under-appreciated. A |

He threw in a pitch for BMW's software upgrade as they could reflash onsite and that it would avoid having to send the module back out to Dinan everytime the module was reflashed by the dealer for periodic updates. I told him I would be interested to hear more, but have not gotten a call back in a week for either option. Will need to call again... I get the sense this guy was primed to pitch BMW performance over Dinan, but perhaps he was getting ahead of himself.
