That was only done to limit their warranty cost exposure, for those problems that they feel are due to any changes. That doesn't mean that they are going to deny warranty on a wiper or unrelated system (purely as an example) but they have been consistent in not paying warranty for problems that owners cause. BMW wouldn't be getting into litigation, they will simply deny the warranty claim. It is an owner who will have to instigate litigation, and end up proving that their modification did not contribute to the failure. Magnusson Moss won't help modders in that case.

I find it laughable that someone thinks BMW will just pay a warranty claim to avoid a potential lawsuit. Amazingly naive statement.

The fact is that BMW will BONUS techs that detect DME tampering during warranty claims....
