Thank you BMW that will be 15k for the solution.
So...BMW programs in Excel? Maybe I can run a macro and pull another 50hp and 100 torques. j/k. Your logic is sound though. Don't see why it couldn't be that way. Thanks for the info.

Cheers,

You have to go under settings screen in the nav to switch between night and day. I am sure it is one lousy line of computer code.

I would expect that such a feature in a GPS would use a calculated sunset/sunrise time, as Garmin GPS's do, rather than a light sensor. Judging by how the automatic headlight switching works, the GPS would be switching to a night mode too often.

Oh wow - I was just in Lexington.
Sorry for the delay in replying..

From the NAV screen..

Hit Option, then under "Map" click on Settings and you'll see "Night mode" there (checkbox). Check it to turn it on, uncheck it to turn it off.

I'm finding that "Day mode" is not so annoying at night, but "Night mode" might flip your bit better, depending.

The vehicle is (as it should be) so dark and not-distracting at night, I think the large main display just draws attention to itself, making the lack of an automatic "Night mode" more annoying, but I do see why some would prefer not to use it. It should be an option, however - switch automatically when the lights are on, maybe, or not.
