X5 E70 Secondhand Purchase Disappointed

Hi all,

I have been a lifelong BMW driver, I'm now starting to lose the faith, in the last year the turbo went on my 2008 320d and the timing chain slipped in the wifes 116i (35k mls). The 320 turbo was done under warranty and the 116 cost me a fortune, head re bore, bent valves/pistons etc.

Due to an expanding family I have just purchased privately a Fully Loaded 2007 X5 E70 Carbon Black, Dynamic Pack, 20" Y alloys, Heated Front and Back Seats, Third Row etc, FBMWSH..

It has 55K mls & I knew it needed a little work, dent in the door, a few dings, kerbed alloys, new rear tyre and a good valet. Nothing 2K wouldn't sort.

However now I have noticed some significant issues...

1. Clock resetting, date is ok thou, when this happens the service light comes on. I rest the clock and all is well for a few days.

2. Both the tail lights on the boot lid are filling with water and one is blown out altogether. 16 week wait for new ones due to demand. sound like a product recall that didn't happen.

3. Both the roof rails are beginning to rust.

4. A vibration between 65-70 goes when I accelerate. Had the front wheels balanced and its still there.

Looks like I could be spending another 2K sorting this lot and I feel its not what I expected from a 100K car...

My goodwill claim with BMW was shot down...contemplating litigation in the small claims court.

Have I bought a dog?

Thx,

CK...
