Cool Typical discount on an X5

What's the typical discount that can be negotiated on a new X5 in Canada? The dealer has offered me 3.5% upfront (to partially compensate for the strength of the Canadian dollar I guess) but how far do you think they can go? Thanks!

Very different situation than the US.

Depends very much on your relationship with the dealer. Repeat purchases tend to earn discounts, while simply calling a dealer and asking them to undercut another dealer doesn't work in general. They generally won't play.

There may be special circumstances at the moment with the very strong Canadian dollar, as the dealers committed to their factory orders some time back, and it looks like that is the room they have to play at the moment.

$1500-$2000 off MSRP is usually pretty good here. The dealers will also add free carpet floor mats, wheel locks, the top up oil kit, and items like that as a matter of course, I have never had to ask for them.

I have the same experience with my dealer.

I was able to play dealers off each other. You can also ask for the internet sales depts who will give you a no-nonsense bottom price since they know you've done homework on the web. They'll state something like "$500 above invoice". I only went back and forth twice with each dealer... any more and they may not deal... so that's my experience.

In the end I still got floor mats and the X5 keychain free.

Yes, but you are in the US. Different BMW marketing organization, and a different dealer network.
