Radar dector mounting locations ....

I gave away my Passport X50 and just got a new Valentine V1. Where have you guys mounted your radars ? I had my previous one hardwired in my E92.

Best position in E70 for the V1 is above the rear view mirror on the left hand side of center post. Mine does not extend beyond the mirror and has clear view out of front and rear.

My remote is at bottom left of windshield. Location works well with Heads Up Display (HUD).

Can you post a picture ? That's pretty close to what I was thinking.

I have mine hardwired just below the rear view mirror. I think their was a DIY for this in the Articles. I am not sure if the same instructions apply to the E70.

I have the V1 as well and really enjoy it. It has provided me with at least 4 solid saves.

Sure. Poor quality ones but here they are. When I need to mute, I use the mute switch on the V1 as the remote is out of reach. Also, one doesn't normally see the remote cord, that's tucked in.

And FYI, I've had dozens of saves using radar detectors. The V1 and it's arrows are essential. So far, have had also no exposure to laser at all so have not needed to look at other solutions. No speeding tickets for 18 years now!

Thanks ! The only reason I switched from the Passport to the V1 was the arrows. My Passport save me endless times too, but it's good to know what direction the radar is coming from.

blue dragon will become famous soon enough
V1 is good if you don't live in Virginnia or Ontario. There the police use the Spectre and they will find the V1. For those situations, an invisible detector is best. I personally use the STi driver from Beltronics, but since Escort bought them, theres a whole bunch of others that you can buy now.

mount it in the same spot as the M3. Even can tap the same green/white wire for switched power.

i wired it to the top of the right visor, i unplug it at night, no hardwiring, straight cord is just long enough.
from the front outlet under the front glovebox(much under, where there are 3 screws and panels are different colors) up the right pillar behind the soft rubber seal to the visor level and neatly attached to the inside of the left side of passenger visor
