Go in your I-drive menu you get to by clicking the controller down, go to the service info, then look through the service requirements. The one that shows a car on a lift is the "vehicle check" and is inspection. The E70 uses the CBS data (condition based service) for most maintenance needs.

I know about the I-drive, but on my past BMW's there were inspection I and inspection II. I'm just weighing if I should buy the extened maintenace ( I have 45,000 miles). They just put all new brakes & rotors on, but I remember that the Inspections used to be very expensive.

They don't do the inspection I/inspection II schedule on CBS data cars, so it is just the oil changes, filters and brake flushes etc. The only "inspection" is the vehicle check, and it is much cheaper if you choose to do it. There are no other parts or work tied in with the vehicle check, it is just an inspection.

Thanks.. What is a CBS data car? Since my car is a CPO it sounds like I do not need the extended maintenance. What do you think??

They were "very expensive" because BWM cobbled together a bunch of BS crap and created a moniker called "Inspection I" and "inspection II"...

This is nothing more that the usuals stuff that all cars need- check this belt. inspect that hose, look for leaks, grease this latch"...but by hiding it in some mysterious "BMW Inspection" people came to think "Oh. only the high priests at BMW can perform this sacred and difficult inspection"

The real joke is most dealers do a piss poor on non-inspection, yet bill for hours of "inspection labor"...

Weasel excepted of course...

If I do nothing else in the life I want to wean people off of dealerships.... they are just needlessly wasting money. Having said that, some indys arent much better.

But OP, you just got brakes, right? You will get maybe 3 oil changes, one brake flush and MAYBE another set of front rotors... for $2400? 2100?

Price it at an indy. or learn how to grease your own latches, check you own washer fluid and inspect your own bulbs!

My 35d is showing 6,000 miles to a vehicle check, and 8,000 miles to an oil change. I've got 20k on my 35d and assumed the vehicle check was a fuel filter change. Does the fuel filter change show up separately at some point, or is it somehow tied into "x" number of oil changes?

I'll have to check on that one. It has to be tied into something else, likely oil changes as they go by amount of fuel consumed. But it should show up on the key report regardless.
