That would crush me, seeing my brand new car covered in snow & ice. I thought our never ending rain was bad :-o

I LOVE the sound of a diesel engine! I wish the 35d had more of a diesel sound, but from what I've read...the X5 has more diesel clatter than the ML and Q7 diesels. I guess most people, American especially, do not want to hear the characteristic diesel clatter & chatter. I love it though!!!

A little diesel oil on the hands when re-fueling does smell much stronger and last much longer on the skin, doesn't it? I filled about 2 weeks ago (still have more than 1/4 tank left) and a little diesel oil got on my hand. I used Purell when I got in the car, and washed with hot soap and water when I got home...and I could still smell it!

not even 1000 miles on it when I got there! Now, 3 weeks later, on 1600. I just love it! when the weather permits, a full detail, clay and swissvax, etc...Just can't say enough about it!
I am one of those getting a new car every 18 months people...maybe not this time!

Congrats on the AW. I love the color and 214's obviously. I know how you feel about the snow. After the d was delivered from AZ, it rained the next day and on and off for two weeks after delivery. The d took a beating and I forgot it was Alpine White.

thanks, dm! I just love it in alpine white! I am fortunate enough to have the dealer closest to the factory and we were going to order it in a special color just for me, but the wait would have been too long. Next time, I'll get the blue I wanted, but alpine white is so perfect and the slight black trim contrast works so well. Not to mention that diesel sounds and torque!

Keep a bag of surgical gloves in your glovebox and use one each time you have to refuel. Works great

Back in the late 90's, when we had our Mercedes 300TD wagon and 300D Turbo sedan, the local 76 station provided gloves for it's Diesel owners. They were just those thin, clear plastic gloves...you know the kind the "Cafeteria Lady" wore in grade school They did the trick, and no latex or funny powder smell the surgical gloves sometimes/usually have. I need to find a box of Cafeteria Lady gloves...maybe Smart & Final?

Jen, I keep bumping into your PCD experience on all of the forums....even if I tried to not be so excited about mine next week I wouldn't be able to! Any idea what they do at PCD if there is snow/ice? I think that would be a lot of fun...really pushing my X5D to the MAX!!!

Don't know what they do, but I am sure it would be fun! I have those 20" summer performance tires and I not quite sure what they'll do in the ice or snow right now. She is staying in the garage. I was excited like you and next week will be great! I am home here snowed in today and probably iced in tomorrow...what a great way to start the week! What color did you get??? Options??
