Reading the codes may indicate what component is causing the problem.

Get the dealer to look at it and read the codes while you are under warranty. Your emissions system warranty may have a different term than your full vehicle warranty though.
Perfect advice on the possible causes, and what it is NOT.

Recognize that if the code "clears itself" it will just turn off the light, but the code remains stored until the memory is reset.

Do not allow this to go past 50k miles. It is NOT covered by the emissions warranty as I recall- only a few specified parts are covered by the 7/70 or 8/80 emissions warranty...and dealers will charge you for labor to diagnose too.
