The X5 4.8i and 5.0i have cool, squared exhaust pipes. The X5 M has hot, quad exhaust pipes. The 3.5i and 35d do not have really anything that distinguishes themselves as different.

I LOVE my clean, modern diesel engine...I have been wanting a new, advanced Diesel for years & years (took California a long time to allow us to have one!).

So, I badged my X5 as an X5d. It's my version of a "hybrid' badge!

The dealer does not sell, nor can they order the "d" badge solo. I either had to buy an xdrive 35d or 335d badge...but they are $99.00 + tax! That's insane! I found a 3.0d badge on eBay in the UK, paid about $20 USD.

I know it's personal, but I really like the way it looks. It makes me feel my 35d is extra special :
Don't you have side badges that designate it as a diesel?

Yes, of course. But read Nello3's post (a few posts up from yours, same page). Just wanted something to distinguish the 35i and 35d from the rear! Just personal taste!

Well I guess that diesel is unusual over there. Here it's the norm with the X5.

Yes, but the one on the rear end adds "10ft-lbs" of torque....

Chuckled at the "X5 d" pic, but I really like it. "Dat's right biatch, it's a diesel!"

Like the d.

I actually think they should have proudly worn the D on the back, but I'd never do it myself. Not vain enough to debadge, nor 'up badge'...

Thanks ard! In all my BMWs and Mercedes over the years, I have never de-badged, and for sure never, ever have I "up-badged".

I too think the X5 diesel should have a "d" rear marking, like the 335d. I feel proud to have this amazing Diesel, and I just helped the Bavarians with this gross oversight in their badging judgement!!

Also, if more American realized that the X5 35d was a diesel...and they see NO black smoke...they might be more open to diesel cars and suvs. Great performance and much better mpg! Although I read, that 1/3 new X5s in the last year sold were diesel in the USA. That's a big step forward for Americans!!

I LOVE IT... I wanted to do it for the same reason, as there is no distinct identity to the diesel engine from the rear... I'll search eBay too...

Thanks Alex. I searched & searched US eBay, but finally had to go to eBay UK.

I bought from seller Opelise on eBay UK. His name is Steve & is the best to work with. Excellent communication, honest and just a really great bloke!
