Wow, the irony of this thread...

I am waiting for my PCD session for my diesel, and this morning the girlfriend and I were behind an X5 at a stoplight. She asked if that X5 was a diesel and I said I won't know until I see the door. Her response was "it'd be nice if they gave the diesel an identity."

Sir, I may have to steal this from you as it looks very nice.

Agreed on the frame.

First of all, who puts their name on their license plate? Bob Smith maybe?
Second of all, theres no such thing as X5d, only the 35d.
Lastly, if you are doing it, at least get a d that's italic to match the X5.

having said all that, I think you ruined it. But in order to be sensitive to others feelings and be PC on this forum.... It looks "great"!!

Wow, someone got up on the bitchy side of the bed today

Bob Smith is the name of the BMW dealership in Calabasas, CA where I bought the car!! I DO NOT have CA license plates yet (CA DMV is backed up, due to budget cuts!) Yes, I wish it was called BMW of Calabasas or Calabasas BMW, but alas... it is called Bob Smith BMW (the Bob Smith dealerships have been in the area since about 1920!)

If you find an italic "d", then mail it to me. To my knowledge, I do not think one exists!

And in my experience...those who do not like UCLA; either are not smart enough to be accepted or they went to USC

Thanks a lot. I like it a lot. I had some friends over for dinner tonight, and one is a Master BMW mechanic at a semi-local dealer. He thought the "d" badge looked great, and does give the 35d some identity!

The X5 4.8i and 5.0i have cool, squared exhaust pipes. The X5 M has hot, quad exhaust pipes. The 3.5i and 35d do not have really anything that distinguishes themselves as different.

I LOVE my clean, modern diesel engine...I have been wanting a new, advanced Diesel for years & years (took California a long time to allow us to have one!).

So, I badged my X5 as an X5d. It's my version of a "hybrid' badge!

The dealer does not sell, nor can they order the "d" badge solo. I either had to buy an xdrive 35d or 335d badge...but they are $99.00 + tax! That's insane! I found a 3.0d badge on eBay in the UK, paid about $20 USD.

I know it's personal, but I really like the way it looks. It makes me feel my 35d is extra special :
Don't you have side badges that designate it as a diesel?
