I am mildly annoyed now. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy, but..

LED lights would be awesome - this is the only thing I envy in Audi owners.

Side camera was not available when I ordered mine, but since we can't get the system they can get in Europe where it will "read" the signs and tell me what the speed limit is, eh.. (at least, that's what I read)

The "new" premium sound system is interesting.

Oh look.. YOU CAN GET THE CARGO COVER AGAIN. <sigh>

I would have liked the new rims too.. Don't really like the ones that came with the Premium.

This is my first BMW, but do they ALWAYS do this? Major updates in the middle of model years, etc.

They make minor changes almost every year. Some years more than others. Last 3 years of model is when they keep adding to standard equipment. They probably will have convenience pack next year(last model year) for free with few options, they had done that for E60 5-series.

This sort of thing is becoming more and more common among manufacturers (not just the auto industry). Expect to see more of it, as sales volume is key to raising stock prices.

I was mildly annoyed as well; I've had my X5d, a 2011 ordered in fall 2010, for less than 3 months and 2,500 miles, and it will soon be a model year old. And unless the $3,500 EcoCredit goes away, I could have had a lot more equipment for the money.

But then I remembered that it is not my vehicle. It is a lease, so it is BMW's. If they want to destroy resale values of their own cars, it makes no difference to me.
