Ventilated Seats or Sport Package?

I am negotiating on a 2012 X5 50. For unknown reasons, you cannot get active ventilated seats with either the M-sport package or the Sport Activity Package as of MY'12. The dealer had no explanation...that's just the way it is.

I live in Texas where it is REALLY hot from early June until late September, so ventilated seats have been a priority item for me. However, I also would like the special suspension and trim details of the M-sport package. But I can't have both.

So I need to make a decision: ventilated seats or Sport package. What do you all think?

Depends how much of a priority are the ventilated seats... I'd go with the sport package...it should make you forget about the heat

if you have dark tint and light colored leather and the A/C running (or get a remote start) you should be ok.
I couldn't get ventilated seats because I picked the Oyster color, which I love.
On the 2011, ventilated seats only comes in black or tan interiors.(can't have tan, because it comes with light carpets, which the kids will destroy in 2 weekends!)

I have both and I find the Ventilated seats basically useless. I would go for the Sport Package any day

I test drove a black X with ventilated seats and it was like 90 out. Had it for about 20 min and honestly, I could not even tell that the vented seats were on. It was on and did not notice it. PS. DO NOT BY A BMW WITHOUT A SPORT PACKAGE!!!!!!!!! It is like having a supermodel wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/husband and buying them cloths at the goodwill.. Complete waste

My wife's X5 doesn't have the sport seats and I really miss them - I would rather have sporty sweaty seats than non sweating regular seats. Also the sport package gives you the great looking wheel combo, the anthracite headliner and the steering wheel is much much better also - all around the sport package is worth having in my book!

GET THE SPORTS!! When I got my '11 35d with Oyster Leather...ventilated seats were only offered with black or sand beige. I was very nervous getting a car without ventilated seats, as my last 3 cars had them, and I got really used to them. But, when I tried them in the E70, the ventilated seats did in all honesty feel somewhat useless! In my 2 ML63s and my 750i..the ventilated seats were AMAZING! I do not know why they ventilated seats in the E70 felt so poor!

So...get the Sports Pkg. IMO, the X5 just looks too vanilla and like a Mom's car without it. Especially Sports Pkg with staggered 214 wheels...HOT!!

P.S.

Also, where I am...May-Oct is brutal. Last summer we had week after week of 105F to 112F weather. Light leather, UV/heat reducing tint, using a BMW windshield screen when parking and trying if possible to park in the shade really helps!!

+1 on this. No ventilated seats here (Oyster interior as well) and really not missing them either.

Fixed.

Back on my 2010, I was under the impression the "sport activity package" was entirely cosmetic......
