Aussie-spec X5 diesels, either E53 or E70, don't have the urea system...

Ah ok, thanks for the info. Good to know I don't need to worry about it having an Aus spec

is there a reason why they have it in the US spec x5's?

Different exhaust emissions standards. With it you get less NOx.
