I live in NC but travel to Silicon Valley frequently for work.

I tried to work with Stevens Creek - they are a large dealer and they have a large inventory, which generally means too much inventory..

They returned my call once. When, apparently, they found out they didn't have exactly what I wanted, no more return calls.

The folks at our headquarters (Sunnyvale) say they avoid BMW because of Stevens Creek. Prefer Mercedes or Porsche because of friendlier dealers.

It doesn't seem to be geographical, either. We have two BMW dealers here (Leith BMW and Performance BMW) and I tried both. I went with Leith because they were much more friendly and much more eager to earn my business (including giving me quite a bit more on my trade than it was probably worth). Performance was only interested in selling me something I didn't want (and wouldn't make a deal on what they had on their lot).

YMMV.

At Stevens Creek, I got the impression that they couldn't be bothered.

Back in the ".com days" we had the same thing here in Cary. The Porsche dealership in particular, was the worst. Sales guy told me "we don't need you. we have more business than we know what to do with!" while trying to sell me a car. They don't say that these days.

Ukwildcat, curious what company you work for. The company I work for is based in Sunnyvale as well with a large facility in RTP NC. I'm in the new England office.

I ordered mine from Mountain View. Peter Pan (San Mateo) had no more 2011 builds available and Stevens Creek would not negotiate. I ordered exactly what I wanted from Mountain View and ABSOLUTELY LOVE the truck!

I have an X5 premium on order as well from BMW of Mountain View. I originally went to Stevens Creek and they offered to give me $500 below MSRP as a "courtesy to me". They were polite and I was polite in letting them know "no deal". I tried BMW of Mountain View we quickly agreed on $1500 over invoice total including $400 MACO and $200 training. Talk to Hamid at BMW of Mountain View. He is a great guy to work with. I pick up the car in about 2 weeks

The worst part of buying a new car is...well buying a new car. I love the attitude that they are "helping" you. Several of the dealers I went to would promise X/Y/Z only to come back with some kind of crappy deal and then say "you won't find a better deal! These X5's are flying off the shelves!!!". I ended up ordering my car from BMW of Encinitas for $1250 over invoice including MACO/Training. They were polite, didn't b-sh*t me around and made the deal quickly. Second X5 I have bought from them...
