My new "rear entertainment system" :)

I called the dealer, and they said they do not know when the BMW iPad holders for the rear seats will be available, but they are hoping by mid or late summer.

Bought this at Fry's Electronics this week. About $40, and besides not saying BMW...it is virtually identical to what BMW will offer.

So much easier than dealing with loading DVDs, DVD menus, remote controls, etc... My 5 year old LOVES this setup in my X5...Big screen, easy to operate. So much easier than dealing with the factory DVD system in our Range Rover.

That looks really great! I'm sure it is also a lot less expensive that the BMW, although the later has an external speaker as well. Does the iPad work with a bluetooth headset that your kids can use? How do you charge the iPad while driving on long trips?

We just use a pair of Sony noise reducing headsets. Not wireless, but very light, and they plug in on the side of the iPad...so the thin wire is not in the way at all. So far, we have never had an iPad lose battery, even when using on long flights to Germany & Sweden. After using for a few days in the X5, it just easily slides out of the holder, I charge it in the house or garage and then snap it back onto the holder.

Yeah, I have a feeling the BMW iPad holder will easily be around $150 or more! And you know...it might even be the same manufacturer as mine, just branded BMW!

Can you provide more info on the mount. Make/model. Is this specific for car models or is it a one size fits all?

How easy was installation?

Nice, can you take pictures from the back of the iPad?
