What is the Weather Band? All I hear is static. How does it work?

I am interested in what others are doing with these buttons.

Toggle between day/night map modes? I didn't even know this was possible. I have an '08 X5. Is this a feature available to newer models?

With the Map displayed, press "Options" then "Settings" then "Day/night mode."

I'm confused as to how to access day/night mode. Can you explain better please?

Sure. It's easy.
Either with the map displayed on the main screen, or else by selecting "Navigation">"Map", press the Option key, then select "Settings". You will have check-boxes for "Day/night mode", "Satellite Images", "Perspective view in 3D", and "Traffic conditions/gray map". Check "Day/night mode". Voila.

So after reading all your uses, I changed to:

1. Home phone
2. Wife cellphone
3. Son cellphone
4. Pandora
5. Presets
6. Nav to home

Thanks for the ideas.

6 Buttons. 6 FM radio stations.

No Nav, by choice. I know my way home, I guess. Is that really a frequent use of the navigation system?

No phone in the car.

I don't understand those that are using one of the six buttons for selecting audio input, since that is an option on the two programmable steering wheel buttons, and you don't have to take your hand off the wheel or look down to use the steering wheel buttons. What are others using those two buttons for?

I guess those are options on newer models. Thanks for the detailed instructions!
