Still quiet but not much driving over the weekend. 500 mile road trip coming up this weekend. I'll check back in after that.

what's the fix? Mine is at the dealer right now and I'm enjoying a non-squeaky 3 series loaner.

This is what the tech stated on my service invoice:

"Cause: Seat rail cover (trim cover for seat controls) front seat unpleasant noises.
Removing and installing or replacing inside cover on left or right front seat. Insulate all trim piece to seat frame"

Also:
"LOWER SEAT TRIM CREATING NOISE REMOVED ALL LOWER SEAT FRONT AND SIDE TRIM (8 PIECES), INSULATED, AND RE-INSTALLED. TEST DROVE TO VERIFY REPAIR EFFECTIVENESS, OK AT THIS TIME."

My SA just called me and told me that there will be some squeaking because it's a NEW car. WTF.

Also, the technician did not hear the squeak loud enough to warranty a repair.

Can someone post the exact part number etc.

Within the last month our 2008 3.0 X5 with comfort seats developed squeaking sound from under the seat cushion when moving the seats/seat backs. No squeaks during driving, only when adjusting them. Brought it to our dealer, and they removed the trim, figured out that the squeak was caused by parts of the trim rubbing. They gave the trim a shave, and in under an hour I was back on the road without the squeak. That was the last week in June and the fix has held up so far.

My car is still at the dealer. SA says he doesn't know when the parts are due in. I told him he might as well order the parts for my other X5 (the M) because it's squeaking too.

No way I'm taking both cars in to sit there for weeks.

I went from being okay back to being pretty pissed.
I added the time time my M Sport has spent at the dealer's service department zing I got it in March 10. 3 months 1 week (and counting) and that's exclusive of normal maintenance.

If it there through this week I'll start bitching to BMWNA about making a payment or two.

I had a similar squeaking issue with my drivers front seat within a few 100 miles of getting the car. I complained when I brought it in for something else. They put a "felt strip" between the seat and the mounting area. It still squeaked about 25 miles later, but then I made a very minor seating position adjustment, leaned it back just a hair and the squeak has been gone for almost 3000 miles at this point.
I agree with everyone that it was extremely annoying.
