Parts ordered in another attempt to fix my Creaking/Snapping Driver Seat

While I was at the dealership this am, getting my low washer fluid level checked, and then filled...the area BMW Engineer was there.

They "somewhat" admitted BMW is having seat issues with the E70. They wanted me to leave my car again, to try and "troubleshoot" the creak/snap that is plaguing my 2011 35d. My dealer and my Service Advisor really went to bat for me today. They told the Engineer that I have bought 2 750s, an M6, an X5 and an X3 from them. In addition to 4 other X5s, 4 3 Series, and M3 and a Z8 Alpina. They told the Engineer that I am a very loyal and faithful BMW customer, and it is not fair that I have to deal with this issue, and let BMW just pick my car apart and waste my time.

There is a "worldwide backorder" on E70 seat parts according to the Engineer. While BMW is downplaying the issue, they must have had some major seat supplier issues with shoddy parts and manufacturing.

They ordered me an entire new seat frame, a whole seat channel assembly, seat railing system and mounting hardware. Of course, it is backordered from Germany and they said it could be up to FOUR months to get.

Also when I pushed them about this issue, they grudgingly admitted that this may, or may not fix the problem.

Ask them how to go about a lemon claim? My guess, is the parts get here before 4 months.

Dealer called this am, 4/6 parts arrived. But they said the 2 most "important" parts are on a BIG backorder. Looks like it might really be months and months they said. FUN!!

Took my two week old 2011 35d on a 600 mile road trip last weekend. Loved the ride and handling. Heard the crack/creak sound. Taking it in tomorrow morning. I'll update once they tell me more.

SORRY Marsh and Floss! My seat is for sure more of a crack/snap, opposed to a creak. But I guess some would describe it as more of a creak!

It is driving me nuts!!! I know this sounds crazy, as many people have cars with much, much worse problems...but it makes me not want to drive it. The car is so solid, quiet, the engine sounds great...and then all of a sudden...snap, snap, creak, snap. It just kills the driving pleasure. I'm finding myself wanting to just drive the Range Rover (although the mpg in that thing is pretty sad)!

PLEASE let me know what your dealership said. PLEASE post any and all part #, and what the invoice says. THANK YOU!!

YES! I feel your pain. Mine just creaks... no snaps, but it's annoying enough... I'm relieved that I'm not the only one with this problem. I'm afraid to take it to the dealer because I'm content with everything else and I don't want to make the issue any worse.

My dealer JUST called me, as I was reading this post. Funny!!

The seat parts are backordered, and will not even be released in Germany until mid July. The Service Manager told me, I can realistically expect the parts to arrive the first week of AUGUST!! He said A LOT of E70s are having driver seat problems...creaks, snaps, groans, rattles!! Sh*t...that's a lot of time, and summer driving with creaking & snapping!! Major Bummer!!!
