Cornering is the WORST. The big problem, is that when I want the seat to snap/crack/creak, ie for service, it is as solid as a vault. The dealership heard it do one loud snap/crack, but then they could not get it to do it again, the 5+ hours they had the car! Cornering and when the body flexes at a certain angle...BAM! It snaps/cracks. I feel like it is slowly driving me mad!!!!!

Same boat

Although - on another forum - I did read somewhere that someone who had this problem thought it was the seat and it was actually coming from the striker / plate of where the door locks into the frame / b-pillar. They wrapped the pin in velco and it completely stopped...I've been waiting to try it but haven't had the chance.

Although skeptical, I ran out in the garage and did this velcro thing. Took a drive...and as I kind of knew....snap/crap/creak! I think there is a very good reason there is a worldwide backorder for E70 driver seat parts.

What sucks though, is my Service Advisor told me that the Factory BMW area Rep told him replacing all the seat parts, may or may not solve the problem. I think it is the whole seat, and where it attaches to the car frame. I feel this is a much bigger problem than BMW wants to acknowledge

Guess I'll just have to wait until August when the parts arrive from Germany. That is if I can control my impulsiveness and impatience...and not trade the car in. Two weeks ago I test drove an S550 and a 2011 Range Rover HSE I controlled myself though. We'll see how this snap/crack/creak will test me until August. I hope my 35d makes it until the seat parts arrive!!! Lol

Deutsch--I know that you've gone full-on OCD on "Seatgate". Just relax, and have a beer .

Here is a video of the passenger seat rattle in my X5. This occurred on my daily drive of 20 miles.

http://awp1.com/X5%20Seat%20Rattle%2...h%20Res%29.mp4

The BMW Rep said it was normal and that it was a big car and the X6 he was driving made similar noises. They did completely rip it apart and replaced several parts but were unable to fix. That along with that they couldn't put my dash back together properly after 4 weeks of having the car BMWNA ended up doing a buyback on my X5.

After all the issues I had with rattles, etc. I wouldn't hold out much hope that they will be able to fix to your satisfaction.

Good luck.

Took mine into the dealer this morning for the same issue. Below is the text verbatim from the invoice.

1128 Seat Rail Bushing Verified Condition. Connected battery charger for diagnosis. Completed vehicle test. Completed symptom based diagnosis. Determined cause of noise was bushing on seat rail. Applied a lubricant to the bushing and tested operation. Noise is no longer present on second road test. Releasing vehicle.

Not sure I buy this as the fix but it was church like quiet on the ride home with no music to boot. We'll see if this lasts.

Wow, Congrats! I wonder if one can access the seat rail bushing themselves? I have every kind of American & German grease, lube and spray known to mankind!!

Mine is getting worse, and even my spouse who generally could not care less about rattles and squeaks is complaining that it ruins the drive in the car. August to wait for parts? Seriously?? And, like the BMW Rep said...replacing all these parts may or may not fix the problem.

And BGM...this is not OCD. This is a real problem, that honestly ruins the enjoyment of driving a new, 2011 BMW!
