How can I take apart the center console

Recently I have noticed something rolling around in my center console (somewhere between the shifter and the wood trim). Sounds like a screw or something of that nature. Every time I accelerate or brake the object rolls back and forth making for quite the annoyance.

Can anyone tell me how to quickly access the area under the shifter/idrive to see wtf it is?

it's most likely a coin.
1) pull out the idrive knob. it comes off easily
2) slowly work on the entire wood trim until it comes off. there's clips holding it in place but make sure you dont break the trim. eventually you'll be able to take out the trim and shifter. there might be a few threads with some detailed pictures

here we go

I never did it! It still drives me crazy from time to time (i normally have the music up loud enough that I do not hear it) To be honest its just another headache alongside my sensor that keeps telling me my rear break pads are worn, when they aren't, and my back up cam that is twitching ughh bmw I am glad your motors make me smile Please let me know if you find a solution. I have not had the time on my hands lately to spend hours in the garage.
