I am US military, stationed in Germany. I have a US spec MY12 X5d as well. Soft close doors are an option for MY12, not MY11.

No, no, no. At least, it will be available in the USA starting with October production. It just isn't available before then for the USA.

They ruin your door-shutting ability though. We had our x6 only a week when it had to go in to have the bumper painted. My 10yo son and I had to continually reshut the doors on our 3series loaner because apparently we're now too stupid to know how to shut doors!
That is so funny you mention that. I have soft close doors on my M5 and whenever I drive my wifes car it takes 2 or 3 times to close the doors properly. HAHAHA
