Why can't my X 4.8 break loose?

Of course, I don't want to do burn-outs (tires are too expensive), I don't want to show off, nothing of the sort. I just am curious why my V8 can't break the rubber loose from a stop. I've held the button down to turn off traction control and all that jazz...but it never breaks loose.

I just feel like a V8 should have enough torque to spin the wheels a bit, no? Am I dreaming?

Your answer is full time all wheels drive.

What about the 2011 535 loaner I have right now? That puppy broke loose no problem.

You're telling me that the 535 isn't full time? I thought they were the same all-wheel drive system, logic wise?

Sorry, I thought "loaner" implied X Drive. It's a 535i X Drive aka 535xi.

Yes, you are dreaming. With 5,000+ lbs, and aforementioned AWD, it will take huge amounts of torque to break the tires loose.

Yeah, I suppose 350 really isn't much these days. Especially on a 5000+ lb vehicle.

It's definitely possible on either wet roads and/or around a corner. Just not off the line.

I'm not sure even on the X5M you can break loose from a stop--as mentioned AWD and the shear weight of it are the biggest factors.
