You can only get a key at a dealer and with Comfort access it's around $350. I've see $300 for the key and anywhere from 50-100 to program the car for it.

My theory on the one-key on used cars is that people trade the car in, but leave the second key at home. Sales person isnt going to risk a deal on a $2-$400 key.

What??? $300 for a key? That's outrageous! I just called the stealership..quoted me $229 pls tax. I guess I have to buy it just in case. Anyone knows where it can be cheaper?

BMG - I purchased the vehicle with 51,850 miles, CPO, heated/cool seats, dvd, pan sunroof, sirius, nav, 6 cd changer, recent tires (dunlop sportmaxx), running boards, sport mode, back up camera, etc (don't know what else is standard or not). Dealer was asking $38,995, got it for $35K plus TTL.

So far the feature that I like the most is the active ventilated seat package (heated/cool seats), and the fact that the seats have the powered thigh bolster(don't know the name of the part of the seat that extends in /out). The seats also have the extra-pad on the headrest. Is this the comfort seat package, or the sports?

You need p.n. 66-12-0-413-690 and 51-21-7-069-547

I've been told this is a dealer item only, but ECS Tuning offers it on their website:

Keyless Entry Remote Contact ECS before ordering

Brand:
ES#:183805
Mfg#: 66120413690

Qty:
Ships in 1-3 days
$128.17

Slide-In Key Contact ECS before ordering

Brand:
ES#:89908
Mfg#: 51217069547

Qty:
Ships in 1-3 days
$28.29

I bought my car with one key only ... I was able to track down the the original owner after the purchase and he claimed that he dropped the car off with 2 keys. I believe that unscrupulous salesmen swipe the spare key and sell them on Ebay. Check it out ... there are tons of them! I wonder where they all come from ...

I just called my dealer since I could use an extra key. We left the second key at a summer house 4 hours away...

Anyway,

Comfort Access Keys - both parts are $298 + tax + plus programming.
Dealer part prices vary and that doens't include any discounts.

If you don't have comfort access, the fob is cheaper, the metal key part is probably the same and you don't need programming.

The plastic key is $50. No programming.

Well, I decided to buy from the stealership: $334 for the comfort key set, $130 to program.

CPO is supposed to have both keys. I just bought an CPO'd x5 locally, and they told me the CPO process makes them do it.

It must be the same elves that take the floor mats on auction cars.
