Rubber Seal crack

Another day, another problem.

8 months old 2011 X5 35d. I saw a crack in the window rubber seal and asked the dealership to have it replaced...The car had other issues and this was just an add-on.

Well, the SA says it's not a crack and it was cut by the person who did the tint.

How does someone break the rubber on the outside - the tint was done on the inside.

The SA may be right as IIRC, when they cut the film for the tint, they use the outside glass as a template/stencil and cut with a razor blade before they install behind the glass.

After I had mine tinted, I noticed a very thin sliver of weatherstripping almost as thin as a hair that had been cut and was hanging on the outside of the car. It wasn't large enough to matter, but if I had a large cut, I would let my tint guy know about it so I could send him the bill for the replacement.

watched my tint-er work and that's what they do.

What's the fix? Any superglue type stuff for rubber?

Well the best solution would be seal replacement paid by the tint shop that damaged it.

If you can't get anyone to own up to it, you might try a little contact cement. I've used it before on weatherstripping with good results.

It's been 3-4 months since the tint; What the brand name for this cement and where do I get it.
