I totally agree with that.....I don't want a slug off the line and then have it come on with a bang in the upper rpm's.........

If you think about it. You are talking 50-100hp for 3k. This is real HP and not the BS 4-7 per mod which you will end up paying 3k for. Every person who has done a software flash or piggy back on a I6 tt are loving it. If you really think about it. If you get 475 hp out of it a tune, you are a hell of alot cheaper than the X5M with 75hpish less. You could get away with a $70k rocket instead of $90K+. Not to mention you can consider your insurance cost difference to pay for it in a few years.

Any updates?

I am actively searching for a tune for my 50i and haven't found any conclusive information on any of them...

Dinan "advertises" the highest numbers but there are no dyno graphs provided and no real world side by side comparisons done. It is very difficult to spend $3K without being 100% sure you are getting what you paid for. I agree that Dinan should provide dyno graphs proving the accuracy of their claims.

I am also looking at the ESS Direct Flash but their numbers are lower than Dinan. I was told to expect +60rwhp +60lb-ft but they too never produced a dyno graph backing up their claims. At half the price of the Dinan it is quite a bit more reasonable, but I still would like to be sure I am getting the advertised gains.

I inquired with both Shiv (Procede) and Terry (BMS JB4) who are well known in the N54 and N55 tuning community and neither of them took the time to respond to my messages. I also contacted Cobb tunning who is a well respected tuner and their response was that they currently having nothing planned for the N63 in the 50i.

Finally, I have seen some new info released by Active Autowerke but the numbers are the lowest I have seen.

Would anyone with a tune like to meet up with a stock vehicle and do some side by side comparisons? This would be a very easy way to quantify the real world gains...
I am sure it would be appreciated by many of us that are on the fence!

About the only thing I can get out of Dinan is a try it and if you don't like it,,they will reflash/refund........did you try looking at OE tuning or Eurocharged? Both of them have tunes and so does Renntech,,but they are almost as expensive as Dinan....still hoping Dinan will come out with a discount,,,,,,,,winter still here, but spring is closing fast and I want to get a tune by then!

Hate to resurrect this thread, but has any progress been made in the nearly 4 years since last post?

Would love to get an update as well. Burger appears to have the least expensive tune and makes a modest claim on the increase in HP. Its the most believable, but would like to hear from those with more experience.

My philosophy is that Dinan is worth it on a brand new BMW when you still under warranty if you are scared something will break. Outside of warranty, there are other tunes for a far more attractive price that will have more boost than the Dinan. I personally run Burger tuning piggyback and I like it. I am considering a change to COBB though, but have to see if it is compatible with my car first.

Looks like COBB doesn't support the N63.

Right, they only support N55 up to 2011 and maybe some early 2012s. I'm only considering it because of the no codes for Downpipes and you can adjust boost, as well as realtime engine parameter readings. For N63, I say go for the Burger tune. It is relatively cheap and you can pull some nice numbers. There's a guy on BimmerFest that was able to get 0-60 in 4.6 seconds after the tune on his E70 50i
