BMW is pleased to announce a snap in adapter for the Apple iPhone 3G. This adapter is for vehicles equipped with the BMW Assist system with Bluetooth wireless technology. I heard the 2G adapter works really well with the 4G iPhone. Are those still available?

@ECS. Your picture is an eject box -- not the snap-in adapter. I know your ad says both.

@Fastbuck. It's not a "2 second click" activity UNLESS one already has the frame installed. My X5 did not come with the frame, eject box and snap-in adapter. I spent a couple of hundred dollars for the parts and hours trying to install it (without removing the center console).

Now I have an iPhone 4 and, while I spent time modifying (i.e. grinding down) my 3G snap-in adapter to fit the iPhone 4, I haven't snapped in my iPhone for about 4 months now. There's just no need for this...

Anyone know if the 3G adapter would fit the first gen iPhone?
I have an old one I'd like to keep in the car but don't want to tie up the USB.

Very unlikely. All the adapters are made to only fit a particular model.
