I looked at the DWS, but I had them on my AMG, and the sidewalls were way to soft,,,good milage,,but you really noticed the soft flex walls. When you have a vehicle that weighs over 5000lbs, with a high center of gravity,,,sidewall flex and stability is my number one concern. Lets face it,,,with a X-5,,the twisties is about the last thing you would try although I must say,,with the RFT it does seem very stable. Final thought,,,if I ever got a flat,,the worst thing that would happen is that I would drive it to a tire store and have it repaired or replaced,,,if I put regular tires on,,,I would either need to call a tow truck,,or use the fix-a-flat can and ruin my TPMS which I would need to replace along with the repair......easy choice for me...RFT!
To this point; those of you with the RFT's and the third row seating, what are the options if you do switch to the non RFT's? Is the best emergency back-up plan really a can of fix a flat, and will that really ruin the TPS? About to get a 4.8 with the 20" RFT's (and Sport Package) and third row and if I do eventually replace with non-RFT's I don't want to be stranded or replace sensor if I can help it.

with the Continentals,

They ARE better than the RFTs. T

the Conti's DO make that turn into the parking a little less work.

Read what you wrote.

Surely you must know that a testimonial to "the RFTs" and "them" .... essentially you are describing a mystery tire...and the declaration that Contis are better than who-knows-what, is useless.

Might one ask WHAT KIND OF Run Flat Tires did you have? BMW ships I think 3 or 4 different un Flat Tires.

I have the michelin latitudes, RFT, which are not bad.

I have 3rd Row and the 20" RFTs--I don't plan on going non-RFT. TPM sensor issue, having to use Fix-a-Flat, owners saying non-RFTs causing ride issues and handle soft, etc--all things I find not worth it.

Fair enough. I had the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400 RFTs on mine from the factory.

Why some have problem with "context" is still a mystery to me, though.
A sentence never stands on it's own.

Michelin always makes a very nice tire - no question.

It should also be said that this experience was a double variable. That is, my first set of RFTs AND my first set of Continentals.

I am much more accustomed to Michelin (Cross Terrain - two sets, most recently on my last vehicle) , although they were not available (in stock) the last time I absolutely had to have new tires. Which would have been after DESTROYING one of the RFTs.

With the Contis, the ride is softer and the cornering is smoother. I would not describe it as "night and day." Mileage actually went down VERY slightly with the Contis from the Dueler RFTs. And of course if I ever get a flat again, I'll have a bit of a problem because the "spare" (mounting bits) option was NOT available when I ordered my car.

But as someone said.. That's what BMW Assist is for.
