what type of tires would you have preferred stock?

A recent survey in shaping BMW's future asked this question... what do you prefer it came with from factory? Not sure of the difference between the last two but here it is verbatim.

Personally I like the all-seasons, but would stick with run-flats, as long as they are of the size I want. The only reason I got rid of the 19" Michelin all-season run-flats was because I went to 20s. Losing the run-flats in the process wasn't terrible, but I wasn't going to pay more just to get them back. Besides, choices are poor. For me, the car is already stiff and changing between RFT and non-RFT wasn't a big difference.

Isn't all-season performance (summer) tire sort of impossible? I'd rather it have summer tires from the factory like in most other countries. Size doesn't matter, I just don't like "no-seasons" compromise tires and I'm willing to buy the extra set of wheels/tires for the winter.

I run summer tires year round now (mild winter in NC) and won't go back to M+S. Yes, many nights it falls below 7°C but I just drive carefully knowing that. But the extra grip and predictable handling characteristics are something I expect and value from my X3.

At this point with suspension designs, I don't really care too much whether its RF or normal tires. Roads aren't too bad in the South.

If I were buying a new X5, it would be the family car, so for roadtrips in the family car I would prefer some sort of high performance all-season run flats. I would also be just fine with standard high performance all-seasons and a full size spare.

If I were buying a non-SUV BMW, it would be my personal car, so I would want standard high performance summer tires at a minimum. Max performance summer tires preferred. I live in the south, so snow isn't a big concern for me.

to the top...

all-seasons with the slight lead... kinda makes sense for a "family SUV".

Although the run flats have a slight edge on cornering at speed, the trade off is loud road noise and dreadful tread life. No thanks BMW.

I would agree with these points except that I am not sure the loud road noise is that loud for me. That said, my overriding factor for the RFT all season was that my wife drives it and it I do not want her gettng stuck somewhere especially in the snow as I await the blizzard that's coming tonight. If I was primary I might not care as much.
