Rear Ended

I was rear ended yesterday by someone that was unaware that red lights mean stop.....ALWAYS. Luckily everyone is okay.

Sorry to hear, doesn't look too bad!

My son rear ended someone, it didn't look too bad either however the insurance company totaled it, damn!

Thanks. i would think that a new tail gate (lift gate had a small dent) and bumper cover for starters. Hopefully it isn't too bad underneath. Now for the fun part, I plan on insisting that they use the shop at my dealership. I don't want to use some cut rate shop that the other drivers insurance company recommends.

Don't think that the BMW dealer is the best....they might be, but BMWs have some crap paint. IMO, find the very best shop you can.

Also, don't let them tell you what to do. Inform them that "xyz will be doing the work, I will have them send you an estimate". If they say "oh, our adjuster needs to look at it" simply respond with "no, they don't. Your insured is responsible for my loss- and I will let you know what it is. Please recognize that YOUR internal procedures and policies are not applicable to ME- they may be to your insured, but not to ME. If, after I get you the estimate, you would like to inspect it, I will allow that as a courtesy".

I always like to wear the pants.

That is my plan. I will let the adjuster take a look at it but in the maeantime i will get my own estimate. There is no doubt that I am going to the shop of my choice. I will let them deal with the difference between their estimate and reality.

When my 2005 X got sideswiped by a city bus at a red light I had the BMW dealer fix it. HUGE MISTAKE

I know, some people assume that that the body shop at the dealership is the best but that can be a big mistake. I have used the shop at my dealership a few times and they do great work. Hopefully they wont let me down this time.

the wife's 328 recently got pasted by a State Farm insured. they tried to depreciate the front clip due to prior damage, road rash on the right side. i balked a bit as their insured ripped the entire left side of the clip off our car.

we had the dealer's body shop do the repairs. they only use BMW OEM parts. it took a phone call and a complaint letter to the NC DOI but State Farm ponied up the whole $6K for the repairs.

paint looks pretty good to me..............

My only point is NOT to automatically think "Oh, the best repairs for my BMW will be done by the BMW Authorized Repair shop at the dealer". Might be, might not.
