CPO

I believe they only truly check brake thickness and tire tread depth. They then go by the computer for brake fluid and oil change requirements. Anything else has to be painfully obvious to repair/replace during the CPO process because it comes out of their pocket. If they can get away with it and you take delivery/drive off the lot then it becomes a warranty repair that BMW pays for.

Bingo.

A tech that always finds $3500+ of stuff to replace with each CPO inspection, will find himeself not doing CPO inspections.... IMO

This is the second time this has happened in one week. I traded in a 2000 X5 with no problems.

Also water in taillight.
I had similar error recently, it turned out to be a "steering angle sensor", only one day in the shop.

Mine was steering angle sensor. But they didn't replace it. They recalibrate the sensor thru the computer. So far so good.

I had this fault in my 07 after the battery was replaced. The fix, believe it or not, was to start the vehicle, turn the wheels all the way to the left, then all the way to the right, and poof, fault disappeared. (I may have the left/right backwards as this was a few months back).

As others said though, this could be more serious (angle sensor etc).

Same happened to me as well. Bad light design ...the AWS DSC ended up keeping the truck at the dealer for a month. New shifter, CAS module and DME.
