I do sort of agree proceed with caution but you shouldn't have any issues.. They give you a space saver and don't have any issues with that.

Rolling diameter should be fine provided both sets of tyres are within what is recommended for your car. This is labeled on your door well.

As suggested, drive with 18 fronts/20 rears and then with one 18/one 20 rears to pinpoint exactly which wheel(s) causes vibration, and go from there. Ignore what ECS said, short runs even on mismatched tires won't do any harm.

Well I got my new rims and had them mounted yesterday and all vibration is gone now. I went with the Style 336 replicas and for the money they look pretty good in person. I'm sure it's subjective for some with this style, I liked the 259's but when the Service Advisor pulled my car around from getting washed I was actually quite happy with the result.

The SA put the new rear rims on with the 259's on the front and they drove it and the vibration went away...so something is up with the rear rims - mystery solved. I'll be selling the 2 fronts in the near future, don't know what to do with the rears...I'm guessing they could be sent to a shop to be gone over again.

I got mine from an eBay seller, speedvision motorsports. I was able to pay $775 for them and used my work discount to pay the shipping (saved me $50 on that). He negotiated outside of eBay (oopsie) but was really easy to deal with. Here is the original auction: 20" WHEELS, FITS: BMW X6, BMW X5, X6, 3.0, 4.4, 4.6,4.8, E53, E70, E71, | eBay

One thing of note is that these are made in China. I have a slight aversion to buying stuff from there...and I will admit that the finish quality was a little spotty (on the paint; little overspray). But there is zero vibration and they balanced up perfectly.

I've had more comments on my car since I put them on.

Your X looks good on the 336, it's a shame those 259s gave you soo many issues.

I have the same vibration issues at highway speeds directly after getting my replica 214s on. Despite road force balancing and rebalancing, I am still living with it. Also upgraded tires themselves from Toyo STs to STIIs and still the same. Along with your findings, I'm pretty sure myself it's just an out-of-round rim and I will replace it at some point.

Just FYI, I do have the sport pkg but like others said, that's just an excuse the dealer used. I did not have it bored though... direct bolt ons and it's still vibrating. Yours was definitely a bad rim and even road force balancing cannot fully correct it on a sensitive vehicle like this.

Ugh, I understand your frustration. I just wanted the darn thing to be fixed and the cost of this adventure...well it's been a spendy little trip. I would as you have, suspect a rim issue. Tracking that down will be the challenge. Good luck!
