Luxury BMW submerges in Newark Bay after N.J. driving mishap

An unidentified driver accidentally backed his friend's SUV off of a boat ramp and into the water. Police gave him a summons for being unlicensed. The car was successfully towed out.

I don't think it is a 2012 as the article states, looks like a Pre-LCI, and I don't think it was $47.5?

The sticker on my getting older every day 2001 E53 was $48,000.

Wonder how much the ins co will cough up, esp with the 'unlicensed driver' backing the car/trailer into the river?

At least it is still under warranty.
There may have been a malfunction which caused the X5 to suddenly accerate, like Toyota, except in reverse this time. Too bad he is quoted in the newspaper saying he fell ill and slammed on the accelerator.
