Are TPMS sensors from a '10 production compatible with an '08 3.0?

I couldn't fit it all in the title. Really, my sister-in-law has a '08 3.0. She has the standard 255/55/18 RFT's all around. I found a set on another forum at a good price. They have the tires, rims, and sensors. Could this be a bolt on setup and the computer will recognize the new sensors?

Doing a search, I could only find this: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...k-2008-x5.html

So according to that, how far along in production does it have to be for it not to be compatible. The set is coming off of a 2010 3.5D with a 1/2010 prod date.

Thanks guys.

No it will not work. The change occurred, if i'm not mistaken sometime in 09.

The cut-off is production date of October 2010. I have a MY2011 but production was 9/2010 so I had to check for this when I purchased a new set of TPMS units. Beginning with production date 10/2010, they changed the TPMS units.

According to realoem.com, I think you're ok.

The build date roll over for the TPS sensor change is 10/2010. It's very likely the sensors will not work with the older vehicle.

Huh? I agree with ECS Tuning that they will not work.

Your first paragraph seems to say they won't work and your second says they will?

EDIT: Sorry about that! TPMS from a X5 with build date of 1/2010 will work just fine with your 2008.

Ok, so if the prod cut off is October, isn't a Jan prod date still ok if the parts for TPMS were the same? Or is it a consensus that it WILL NOT work; period?

Sorry for the confusion. I meant to say I had to deal with the same problem. I found out my vehicle was produced prior to the cut-off date of 10/2010. So, I had to be sure to purchase TPMS units for pre-10/10 models.

TwinTurboGTR, I believe you are fine since the production date is 1/2010 (aka pre-10/10) for the wheels and you're placing them on a pre-10/10 vehicle.

Check realoem.com. The pre-10/10 X5 and the pre-10/10 X3 use the same part number for TPMS units.

Of course, your dealer can also confirm this in case you're still concerned.
