I don't know about voiding your warranty, but Tire Rack is the way to go, just based on price of the tires. Unfortunately, you'll have to get a quote from an installation shop on mounting/balancing and then a 4 wheel alignment. Get the quote from Tire Rack and see if your dealer will match?

We can certainly get you a nice set of tires for your X70 but im not sure about how your dealer will deal with the warranty issue if THEY did not sell you the tires.

So according the the warranty information:
BMW Tire & Wheel Protection Protects you from the hazards of the road. The BMW Tire & Wheel Protection program provides coverage in the event of damage to your tires or wheels as a result of metal, nails, glass, debris, potholes, blowouts, etc. (excluding cosmetic damage). You can choose a plan that covers your vehicle for up to 5 years. Program benefits include: Ultimate peace of mind. You no longer have to worry about unnecessary financial hardship in the event of damage due to a road hazard. We have you covered. Damaged tire(s) will be replaced, not plugged or patched. There are no maximum number of occurrences, no claim limits and no claim aggregate. Benefits are not restricted by vehicle mileage. Program benefits continue even if you replace your tires. Up to $100 of towing expenses are covered. Transferable — adds resale value. Go to a junk yard and just drive around the yard for 30 mins. You are bound to pick up something in the tires, if what they say is true. No plugging or patching. lol But in all seriousness, if you ask BMW, they are going to say tires must be bought from them. But if you don't ask and don't tell, I (Stressing "I" because I don't know if they take serial numbers or something down) buy the tires through tirerack.com and slap them on. It is going to be cheaper than dealer almost 100%. Then in the future if you get a nail or flat, just bring it in and utilize the warranty. Just my $.02.

If the plan is like a GoodYear RoadHazard warranty, they record the tire S#.

I bought a set of tires here on xoutpost and had my BMW dealer install them. Price was reasonable and they seem to have done a decent job except for one thing -- they had marked the edges of all the wheels with what looked like rubber abrasion from the mounting/alignment equipment. I had to use 4 different cleaning compounds to remove that. Normal wheel cleaners could not remove it.
So maybe they don't have the best equipment for wheel mounting and balancing? I don't know. |

Pretty sure they don't sell these RFT tires. When I checked earlier this year, they did not.

They do, but you have to ask...
Special order, maybe some have them in stock. In Canada, the front are competitively priced (295$), but less for the back (413$).
