Pillar, holds up things, like your roof. All the issue about paint are nothing. The area they are going to weld is likely inside the car under trim, carpet, or the headliner. So it will no be seen. And there was a missed or misplaced weld by a robot. Let a human weld it up right. Quit making a big deal out of something they found and are going to fix. Like everyone said you don't own the car. Just drive it like you are paying BMW to do Sent from my SGH-i917 using Board Express |

Agree with other posters. It is a non issue. You have a warranty, so let them fix it under warranty. It isn't your car anyway, it is the leasing company's.

Thank you guys,
may be I am overly sensitive, but I am bit different opinion. anyway, they contacted me today and gave me two options here. 1. they will repair it and pay 3month worth of payment 2. they will replace it with new car with same spec. I will go there in person and talk to him. but at this point, i am bit disappointed with BMW assembly line. I have owned many premium brands from porsche to mb and audi. this was my first BMW. while they have superb dealer service, the quality control is bit disappointing. I will see if I can just return the car and may be I will get new GL or pursue other option thanks |

I was previously in the car industry, and those things could happen from any car manufacturer. They will replace, or give you 3 months. Wow, what an overkill of suggesting to change for another brand, after the offer they've made. Maybe you're better with something else than a BMW, and the opposite's maybe true also...

Honestly, I would probably take the 3 free payments and forget about it. Just make sure the dealer is a certified collision center or have them send it to one that is and you should be fine. Once it is properly welded, you shouldn't have any issues and seeing as it is a lease, you don't have to worry about losing any resale value. On the other hand, if you are planning on buying the vehicle after lease, then I would have them get you a new vehicle.
The GL is a new model for this year, so you should expect it to have some bugs that haven't been worked out yet.
