Do you really have to do the registration process? Any problems if you skip this step?

X2. Does the registration process really mean resetting the alternator memory to not overcharge a new battery?

guys, learn to do a search. many have discussed this.

IMO it will not OVERCHARGE the battery or otherwise create a danger...such a fault would be unsafe for all cars, and BMW would never release such a system. However it may 'not optimally manage' the battery charging and shorten your battery life.

IMO

Just call a few indys and ask if you can stop by and have them reset the battery, you just installed a new one. Make sure you position the statement as a quick, while you wait thing and you will like be quoted/charged appropriately.

Hmmm

Hmmm, this is pretty much the same issue i'm having with my battery. It's only 3 yrs old. If I leave the door open for 45min to clean the inside, the engine won't start. I'm booking an appointment to get it replaced under warranty. If they don't do it, I'll send my wife back to chat with them.
