Did I do ok?

My 2010 MSport has just about reached the end of its warranty, so I went in search of maintenance extension and BMW warranty.

After som negotiating I was able to pick up both the maintenance extension Premium warranty for about 5k.

The maintenance is the same as the new car maintenance program. Its good for 6 years or 100k mikes. Given that my car seems to go through brakes at 30k- 32k I should get at least 2 sets of brakes out of it, plus a few oil changes and a brake fluid change. At 2 sets of brakes I'm money ahead.

The warranty is a BMW warranty good for 6 years or 100k miles. There's a 50.00 deductible per visit, not per item. It basically covers everything but "trim"; for instance something like the sun roof itself isn't covered, but the motor/switches that make it work are. All electronics and computers are covered as well, including all the items that make up the nag system other than maps of course.

I had planned to trade the car for a new X5 but decided last minute to keep it for a while. That left me with little time to price BMW maint/warranties.

Both the warranty and the maintenance are transferable with he car nd should the car ever be totaled I get the money back, pro-rated of course.

So I wondering, how do you guys think I did?

Doesn't matter what anyone thinks-if you're happy with the decision, that's all that counts.

I thought for the X5 it was around $2400 for the extended warranty through BMW.

Like the previous post as long as you are happy that is all that matters. Besides a new X5 would have set you back another $65k plus instead of $5k.

The answer to the question will depend on WHICH 'BMW plan' they sold you: a platinum, and it is a good deal. Gold in ot s ok.

The BMW 'drivetrain' plan is 2500 ish.... Gold 3500, plat 4500... All roughly.

The maint is whatever they can get, 1500 to 2495.

Did you get quotes from sponsors?

I have a friend whose transmission just went out in his 2007 X3 and the dealership is telling him 9k to fix. His warranty expired and the vehicle has 67k on it. I am going to buy the extended when it comes closer to expiration.

It was the BMW Platinum plan plus the maintenance package.

I did take a quick look here for sponsors but didn't see any anywhere. Likely I'm just a dork and overlooked them but I did look.

Ended up at the dealer I buy cars from. I have a long time close friend there they usually take pretty good care of me.

.

Then I'd say good deal...

It is impossible for us to find out 'costs' as these prices are not shared. Knowing it was sold as a package at 5k is a valuable datum.

I've searched the forum, and can't seem to figure out who the sponsors are, or where to find them.

I need to buy an extended warranty for my 35d in the next couple of weeks. Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

FWIW... I know San Diego BMW has a 20% off coupon deal on maintenance right now.

I didn't use it because they took pretty good care of me without it.
I got it in my email a couple weeks ago don't know how long its good for.
