CEL comes on 9 days after warranty expires

I pulled the OBDII codes and I get P2187 P2189. From what I can tell that means, the air/fuel mixture is running lean. Does anyone have any experience with a DIY fix? If I find cracked hoses (best case scenario I'm thinking), are they easy to replace?

Thanks!

No xpert on codes, but the easy try is make sure the oil cap is seated and tight...
after that, intake air leaks.
Some of the mavens will chime in.

Hit an Indie with a full tilt boogie scanner and software and they should be able to nail it.

Nothing was touched under the hood since an oil change in November. I'll check the oil cap tonight. Thanks guys!

You mean the gas cap right

I was gonna ask how cold it was today at your end and saw you are in LA, lucky you.

Mine seems to throw a CEL when parked out in excess of 10 hours on the coldest day of the year (-15'C/5'F) which clears by the time I get home and restart. Happened twice this Winter already.

Found this:

Quote:
(quote)P2187 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 1 (RKAT1) - Above Limit

Possible fault cause
- Incorrect main charge signal
- Intake air system leaking
- Fuel pressure too low
- Volume supply of fuel pump too low
- Mechanical fault in injection valves
- PCV valve leaks
- Cap of oil filler neck leaking
- Leaks in exhaust system
- EVAP canister purge valve mechanically faulty (hangs open)
- EVAP canister purge valve output stage faults

Chances are it was the gas cap.
Don't worry about unless it comes back on. Then check the other possible causes.(end quote)

In my particular case it turned out to be the oil filler cap was not fully closed.
in my experience, it is usually intake air leaks- cracked hoses a common issue with underhood temps....

It might be the high battery draw you're getting, with the steering wheel heater, seat heater, defrost and fans on high apparently it can throw a high battery draw code....at least that's the crap they told me at the dealership..."perfectly normal" is what the SA told me.

Ard, I guess your comment is based on the fact a high battery drain cannot throw a CEL or do you have any ideas on what may be throwing a CEL on a very cold day? Hard to call I know without a code, took it to the dealer the next day and they found nothing stored. Only other thing is Sylvan is also in cold Canada

Not too bothered yet as it happens about 2 times a year and gone by the next restart.

It defiantly throws a high battery draw code when its cold started, I find it hard to believe its normal though.
