['09] Sluggish computer/nav screen & finicky throttle - is this normal?

I recently purchased a 2009 X5 4.8 from my uncle who upgraded to a 2013 X5 5.0

When I used to ride in this vehicle (before owning it) I never noticed how sluggish the 'infotainment' screen is. My uncle said that it has just gotten worse/slower over time. I feel that there should be SOMETHING that can be done to fix this, right?

Finicky nav screen behaviors:
-staying in backup camera mode for 2-3 minutes after shifting into drive(won't play audio or allow you to change the screen)
-freezing on the warning splash page for minutes after I click to Accept
-freezing on the audio screen after accepting the warning/agreement (shows the background but doesnt show stations or any menu titles and the scrollwheel/menu button are useless until it wakes back up)
-overall extreme sluggishness in nearly ALL functions

I looked up my VIN number on BMW's site and it says the software is up to date....?

I did a little searching and found that a lot of ppl are tweaking the software to remove the warning splash page so I ordered the sync cable and am starting to research how to get that done.

But has anyone else noticed the same sluggishness, and if so, is there any way to fix this? (wipe the drive and reload software? install new software? something else?)

Also, I've read about other ppl having weird shifting issues after getting their vehicles back from dealers for service, but I don't think that's the issue I'm experiencing. Mine shifts smooth and does so every time I want it to, but often it'll downshift when it's completely unwarranted and unwanted. I understand these cars are drive by wire, but sometimes even the most minute throttle input seems to throw my BMW into crazy down-shifting accelerations? Any thoughts on this issue?

Thanks in advance!!

try resetting the system. Not sure if it will help but its worth a shot as a first step to troubleshoot it.

push all three in and hold together at the same time while the screen is on.
-the volume knob
-the cd eject button
-the dvd eject button

release after the screen goes black, it will clear and reboot. Also if you have any phones old or new paired in your idrive delete them all first.
