Unhappy '08 X5 3.0si w/ 15,500miles water pump failure

Am I the luckiest guy or what? I've got less than 16,000 miles on the odometer and have a failed water pump. It's at the dealer being fixed.
I had a failed auto transmission which was replaced under goodwill consideration about a year ago.
The vehicle's a real letdown in terms of reliability. I'm sure others have it better, or worse but I doubt it.

Started the car cold, and it made a loud radiator fan noise within a few seconds, probably running at full speed (it was so loud that people were looking at me). After driving about five to ten minutes with the loud fan noise, a warning came up telling me I'm about to overheat the engine and to drive moderately. There goes my water pump.

My tranny went out around 7/12 and my water pump engine fail safe went out on 2/13 as well. They all failed around 50K miles.

My first thought too - even I have 33k after 5 years and I work from home.

I've always wondered if most parts reliability was due to use (wear) or often due to time passing (even without use).

Its a age thing. Whether driven or sitting. Its aging. I drive about 200 - 500 miles a month. Just spent 1,500.00 on fuel pumps for
a 2002 car with 5,000 miles. Who ever buys the 335 just traded may shock it
and have problems. 3.5 years and 11,000 miles of in town driving.

Add this to the list. Broken serpentine belt which punctured the coolant rubber hose. I was near 7000rpm when I heard a short not too loud thud from under the driver side hood. Then when I came to a stop, there was a constant thudding coming from the front, and could be felt from the steering wheel. The thudding quickened when I accelerated. I went on my way (no error message and the car kept going fine) for 2~3 more miles. Parked and when I returned there was a puddle of blue coolant near driver side front tire. Towed it to the dealership and I'm wondering how much they'll ask.

I am surprised they didn't change the belt when they did the water pump. I know the water pump is electric but when I did mine I inspected the belt while I was there. I would have changed mine but it looked brand new.

I guess they thought it's not needed, as the car has only 16,000 miles.
