What about the CPO warranty? Is that as good?

It is better than not having an extended warranty at all, or having a third party extended warranty. It does not cover as much as the original warranty.

Exactly. The original warranty, they'll cover almost anything from bumper to bumper. On the CPO warranty, a) you have to pay $50 for every repair and b) there are a bunch of things that aren't covered under CPO (like most of the electronics Nav, radio, etc.)

Okay.. I have been listening to you all and trying to find one that fits what I want on my own by searching different sites. Any suggestions on site or places to look for a nice 2012 X5 with less than 40,000? I am okay with it having minor issues on the carfax such as minor dent repair or something like that. I figure that will be the only way I will be able to get it into my price range and still have plenty of warranty left on it to make sure there wasn't anything majorly wrong with it. Any help is appreciated!

My local sources may not match completely to what you have in your area, but here goes:
1) Local dealer. If it is still under warranty, you may get better service if you also purchased there. The BMW warranty is valid at any dealer, not just the selling one, but if you purchase there it helps, often with things like complimentary service loaners. 2) Craigslist. I sold two vehicles on Craiglist, both very easily. Kijiji is an alternative in some areas. 3) BMWUSA.com Go to the BMW website and select the preowned tab. Search for used vehicles by model and year at all dealers. Decide how far you want to go to find to right one. For some it is across town, others are prepared to go across state or across country. I just looked, and saw 197 2012 X5s, and 1019 more 2011 models. Filter by mileage, price, location. Good luck.

I posted earlier.
cars.com You can filter by year, miles on the car, miles from you, etc. They will pick up cars being sold by dealers as well. I found 11 cars, all 2012, within 150 miles of you. What is your price range? Edit: what colors do you want, which are 'not an option'?? (I live in CA, but I am actually in the process of buying a car for my sister - used nissan- and she is on the east coast.... I can tell you that not really caring WHICH car you get puts you in an amazing negotiating position with dealers...) |
