The dealer is owned by BMW of NA. I've been fairly happy with the service in general.

Good point but I still have no visibility on the oil leak. If it's a common problem easily fixed. The battery drain issue is vexing. Never had this issue in 2.5 years of local driving.

Ok.. the X5 is fixed ! The oil leak was traced to a vacuum pump which was replaced. For the battery issue they replaced the IBS and the negative cable. I also had them tighten up the rear hatch.. its nice and quiet now.

Fingers crossed.

If you are worried about the battery issue, I would buy a battery tender and hook it up once and awhile when you get home from work. I have the wife's x5 on the charger easily once a week to keep it strong. Her X5 kills a battery about once every 12 months based on here very short commutes.
