This is the thread you want to check out for the battery replacement.

http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ement-diy.html

A few of us got it done pretty cheap... ~$250 installed and registered.

Hi, Guys.
Here's an update. Sorry for the delay, but I managed to finalize everything last week.

I got
2x Zimmermann REAR Rotors
1x Textar REAR Brake pads
1x OEM Sensor
from AutohausAZ for around $250

Got
1x AutoParts H8 AGM battery
Advance Auto Parts for around $150.

I found out one of my father's new friend is a retired mechanic.
He did the job for $60 total. I guess my dad owes him a few dinners. LOL

He also said the registration is not necessary. In his experience and in his brother's experience, who owns his mechanic shop as well, there was never a problem without the battery registration.

But I just got the INBA cable, and did it anyways since it wasn't a big deal.

I was planning to flush the brake fluid with the BMW Brake fluid since that was actually cheaper than Pentosin or other brands. But after he checked the brake fluid, he told me it's unnecessary. Since I read everywhere online that biennial brake flush is highly recommended, I also asked a cousin who lives in Korea who used to be a car mechanic and now works for Lexus, and he told me for our mileage, that's not necessary. The 2 year mark is simply a guideline. In real life, it's better to check the brake fluid and your mileage. My x5's mileage is really low at around 30k for 6 years and probably less than 10k since the last brake flush. So I decided to wait a little longer.

Anyways, thanks everyone for your advice. I just wanted to post an update.
Thanks!

^ Thanks for the update, sounds like youve handled that nicely.

However...one comment:

brake fluid is hygroscopic- it absorbs water. Over TIME this will lead to breakdown of components in the braking system, which in tern cause discoloration of the fluid. Using the COLOR of the fluid as an indicator is not adequate. Mileage is not appropriate. I do 100k miles in two years, or 200 miles in two years, the fluid has the same (roughly) water content. this is why this ONE item has only a time-based maintenance interval.

Having said that, 2 year or 2.5 years is probably fine. But dont wait for dirty fluid!

You can put off doing the brake fluid. But you increase the risk of having to do a much more expensive brake job in the future. Pads are cheap, calipers less so.

You are getting great advice from all the other members, I did the battery registration on my 2008 X5 4.8i both with INPA and ISIS. (BMW ICOM), in my experienced INPA displays battery registration but when checked with ISIS IT WAS NOT, it showed the batterie was replaced at 000km which was in the factory, after registration with ISIS (ICOM) it shows it at the mileage of my car but in KM, as said by other members it is very important to register your battery if you want it to last and be charged correctly, that way you don't have any problems with your car that a bad battery causes.
