You people let your significant others drive your vehicle?

So, I was thinking the same thing and was fearful of letting the wife drive the X5. Brand new set of wheels and was going through the parking lot and yep, bang on a curb (I was driving). Had that one fixed and then yesterday driving slowly through the gas station trying to squeeze between a large work truck and a ramp and, yup...I did it again.

Soooo, having the same rim fixed for the 2nd time this Thursday. But I found a great guy who does some amazing work for $125.

That's the problem, separate bank accounts, budgets, property. I am assuming you and your significant other are married.
If my wife breaks something on the car, she knows it's coming out of OUR bank account. There's no "you pay, I pay". But that's just me..

My comment was not supposed to be condescending... The point was no point getting upset over everyday wear and tear on a daily driver. This is easily repaired and does not cost a great deal of money.

Outside of an apology, what were you expecting her to do? Either way I think it's much ado about nothing.

My significant other is my wife. We now share a vehicle, since I sold mine. I let her drive it, she lets me drive it. If it gets a ding in a parking lot, well, that is life. She takes very good care of my (our) Shun knife collection, and I take very good care of her (our) Le Creuset collection. Who uses Teflon, you trying to poison yourself?

I live in the city and parallel park almost every single time I park so gotta deal with those unfortunately. You are probably the only person who will notice if that helps at all.

My wifes WRX looks like a crash up derby car.

Was out with a friend years ago who was having trouble with his live in GF, we were on Hwy 9 about 30 miles from where we lived, came across an accident, single vehicle rollover red ZR1 Vette, he commented it looked just like the one he had just bought.

As we drove past I checked the plate and immidately stopped, he asked why, told him it IS his ZR1.

We got the hosrpital info where his GF was taken, went there. She saw him walk into the ER treatment area, jumped off the bed and locked herself in the bathroom.

A few years later the north/central FL region Viper Club president took delivery of one of the first GTS coupes, his wife jumped in, went 2 blocks, tried to powerslide a left turn, hit curb, rolled, hit tree then house.

The ZR1 was under 1 week old and the GTS was hours old.

Again, curb rash isn't everyday wear and tear. Accidents happen, it's just disappointing to curb nearly new wheels. I was perturbed but the comments here have been light so it has been pretty helpful.

You have a way of trying to not be condescending. These are all first world problems, things aren't that serious, and life goes on.

An old beater would be ok to bang around and curb check. I spent the extra money to have something nicer ... that's BMW ownership. All factors compounded, I think a man with curbed rims should be allowed to vent. I'm feeling a lot better after reading some comments. I also had an ex-wife wreck my Infiniti 15 years back, and another ex totaled our Sequoia. The curb rashed wheel seems pretty insignificant with a different perspective, LOL.

It sucks when they do things like this but at least you have someone to be mad at haha, I always remind mine to be careful and always park far from people when she's drives my car . First curve rash on my wheels was by my own hands worse feeling specially cause she was with me. She says "damn babe you gotta be careful and watch how you park!"
